AUCKLAND. October 7.
At a meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union laat evening, J. Arneil, referee ab last Saturday's match, Parnell v. Ponsonby, reported J. Roberts, of the latter team, for using insulting and offensive language. The Committee suspended Roberts for 12 months ; and also pro* hibited him from admittance to the Rugby Union grounds. The Union resolved to declare tke season closed. Parnell, therefore wins the senior championship. The half-decked boib picked up by tha Wairarapa off the New Zealand coast is identified as that in which thre« natives were capsized between Whtiigaroa and Mongonui. The natives had a dingy, and reached the shore. Great interest ia being taken in tha jubilee of the Scotch pioneer settlers, who arrived by the Duchess of Argyla and Jane Gifford. on Monday. Colonists are coming froii the Bay of Islands ia the north, and Christchurch in the south. Soma have been in the colony since 1823, and others are 93 years of age. A liab has been received by the secretary of no less tlmi 400 persons, who have been in Auckland from 50 to 60 years.
