At Flemington, this morning, Paris did a great gallop, finishing a milo and a half in 2mins 44secs, and a milo and threequartors in 3mins llsecs, thus beating Carbino's rpgistor for tho latter distance by ono second. Oxido and CardonosB wero nont 11 furlongs, which they accomplished in 2mins 33isccs. Whimbrel strode over a mile and a half in splendid stylo in 2inins 45secs, Strom* boli had Sir William for a companion in a strong milo and a half, which was traversed in 2mins 45£secs. Tho last six furlongs occupied lmin 19£secs, and -the Derby cmdidate fitiiahed Iiko a lion. Tho Tylor, Cobham, J*ck, Rigamuftin, Vaughwi, and Survivor put in good sound exercise. Carbine was down, but not worked. Correzo, looking big and muscular, ran a strong two mil oh on the tan. Ho was backed for tho Melbourne Cup hat night to win L5000 at 100 to 7, and L6000 was accepted *bout Whimbrel at tho samo prico. Megaphone wan supported for bovomI thousands at 100 to 6, and L5000 to L200 was taken about Glenloth. Sword Bearer was heavily backod for tho Derby last night. The beat otfor about him is now 8 to 1. Consequent on a splendid gallop this *noruing Paris has advanced to tho position of first favorite for the Melbourne Cup, and 100 to 12 is frooly accepted about the son of Grand Master. Disquieting rumors aro abroad concerning Malvolio, but 100 to 10 is still taken. Whimbrel is hardening, and 100 to 8 is tho best offer against him. Tho following horses aro scratched for tho Cup : Linburn, Spokesman, Freedom, and Propounded
