The fall of 6d in the Home market has had the effect of steadying the local market. However, the market is steady and firm, and in the early part of the week some small lines changed hands at 4s 2d, and one line for seed wheat was purchased at 4s 2^d. The business during the week has been Tery limited, and towards the end of the week merchants were not inclined to purchase at the figures expected by farmers. There have been a few lines of Tuscan sold fit up to 4s 2^d, and velvet has been purchased from 4s to 4a Id ; Mold's eunobled, straw, and chaff wheats, from 3s lOd to 3s lid. Oats are without alteration, and short are quoted at Is 4d to Is 5d ; dun oats, Is 4d ; Tartars, Is 3d to Is 4d ; and Danish, Is 2d to Is 3d. Barley has been purchased at 2s 7d to 2s 8d. Potatoes have slackened off, and enquiry i3 less active for the tuber, and up to 27s 6d has bem paid for store delivered. The other markets are unaltered. Dairy produce is active. Owing to the late prolonged drought butter is getting scarcer, and the price has gone up to lOd to Is ; eggs, Is 3d.
