REEFTON January 6.

A petition was lodged this afternoon by John Drake against the return ot Richard Reeves for Inangahau. Sir R. Stout and Mr Free (of Reefton) have been retained for the petitioner. It is understood that the petition lms been brought under the 29th clause of the Election Petitions Act, 1880, thus making the returning officer responsible. So far as can be learned the grounds are that votes were disallowed that should have been allowed ; also, other irregularities on the part of the returning officer. The petition" will probably be heard in Nelson.
