This morning a deputation from tho Whuff Luborora' Union waited on thu committee of tho Stovodoring Association, und requested that affairs witli regard to tho employmoul of wharf laborers might bo restored to tho position they were in boforo tho strike. Thoy wore informed that tho Association could not do this, but union men wore being omployod, and no difference was made in the former wages. Tho mayor of Lyttolton and some members of tho Borough Council waited oti tho Stovcdoren' Association Committee, and requested thorn to omploy unionists out of work. Tho committee pointed out that though thoy could nob drsmiss the froolaborors who had holpod them through tho recont difliculty thoy were employing many unionists, that the latter wore earning more thin tho froo laborers, and tli.it last week tho unionists' oarniugs oxcocdod those of tho froe laborors by over LiOO. Tho b'llanco-flhoo of the labor day demonstration shows a profit of L 74. L!JO has boon placed on deposit, some small honorariums voted, and a loan made to tho Lumpers' Society.
