Fat Cattle— oB head woro yarded, medium to good, a few prime. Prices were only slightly iv advance of those ruling latt week. Best bullocks brought L8 15s to LlO 7s Od ; medium, L 5 17s 0d to L 7 15s ; light, L 4 12s 6d to L 6 17s 6d ; best cow.t, L 6 to L 7 2s 6d ; others, L 3 to L 5 15s. Fat Sheep— 234l were penned, about 100 merino wethers, the balance crossbred wothera and ewes, one-third shorn. Bes-t orosabred wethers in the wool brought 17s* 6d to 20s, one or two extra prime show oheep to 22s 6d ; shorn brought 8a 3d to Ma Cd j bestdo owes, in tho wool, Iss 9d to 17 i 9d ; medium, 14s to 15a Gd ; shorn, from 7» 3d to lla ; merino wethers, in the wool, to 13s Cd. Grflin.-— "Whcat—Thobuaincssdoncduriiig the past week has been very slight. The market may bo considered exceedingly quid . Moderate stocks of flour are still held, and until these are considerably reduced thcro will bo no improvement in price to apeak of. Wo give last week's quotations, which aro merely nominal, say for prime milling (Tuscan, J?s 9d to 3a lOd ; do whito velvet , 3s 8d to 3s 9d ; medium to good, 3a 5d to 3s 7d ; best red wheat 3s 5d to 3a Od ; medium, 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; inferior, 3s to 3s 2d (ox store). Oats— Owing to moro reasonable freights being offered, shippers havo been operating with moro freedom ; in consequence, considerable clearances havo been effected, both at auction and privately, on ] tho basis of late rates, which, however, «te j still unchanged, and may not improve to any appreciable extent, but it is hardly ptobable they will recede. Wo quote prime milling, Is 3£d to Is 4d ; boat short feed, Jh 3d to Is 3£d ; modium and discolored, Is 2d Is 2^l j black, Is 2d to Is 2£d ; musty and Inferior, la to Is Id (ex store, sacks extra). Barley— The market is quito bare of prime malting, and th<* only parcels left on han^s are merely fit for milling or feed, for which there in but very little demand. Quotations nominal; for boab malting, 2s 6d to 2s Od ; medium, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; feed and milling, Is 6d to 2a (ox store, sacks extra).
Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report for the week ended November 19, m follows : Grass Seed— The demand for ryegraf.s eeed has now considerably toned down, but ib is satisfactory to noto that tho market is almost cleared of old stock, and very Httir will have to be carried over into tho new season ; at tho moment the business done is oonfined to retail parcel*). Wo quote for best machine dressed, 4s 0d to 5s ; farmeiB 1 dressed, best, 8s 6d to 4s j medium, 2s I'd to 3s 3d (ex store). Cocksfoot is again dull with but little passing, at 4d to 4£d per lb, Potatoes— perwents, if in good condition and fit for immediate uso are in request, and saleable at from 60s to 70s per ton, while inferior have very little attention. Chaff has only a moderate demand, the supply being about equal to requirement-*, and although sales are more easily effoctcd, prices show but little improvement. We quote best, 87a Od to 40s ; extra prime, 42e (Jd ; inferior and medium, 30s to 35s pc? ton Dairy Produce— There is no improvement to note in the tone of the market for either cheese or < butter. Factory-made cheese, medium size, is selling in small parcels ot 44d ; loaf, 4£d ; salt butter in Pond's boxes, 6d to 7d ; prime, 8d ; but the supply in considerably in excess of requirements.
