STATION PEAK RUN.

TO TIIK KDITOII, Sir,— l notice n letter in to-day's wsue asking if a copy of I he roHolutions passed at the meeting held last Friday had been ■out to the Hon. T. W. H/wlop. Your reply shown thut it has not been done. I consider thr.t tho resolutions should be souto to Mr Hislop, hb the member for Oamaru, apart from his being a Minister, at in the latter capacity ho could only hand them to Mr Richardson, the Minister for Lands. If the publics want the l*nd they mutt strengthen our member's h»nd«, bo that he may show the Ministry what the people really require; if they do not do so, they must not blame him for any mistake.

Skttlkk. ['• Settlor" goes too far in saying that our footnote to " Enquiry's" letter shows that the resolutions referred to have not been sent to Mr Hiilop. We simply statsd what we knew to be tho case— that the resolutions had been sent to Wellington ; »nd we made no reply whatever to the question specifically put by "Enquirer." As a matter of fairness we may state that in sanding tho resolutions to the Government tho Mayor bas fully carried out the instructions given to him by the publio meeting, whioh, in regard to that matter, resolved—" That these resolutions be forwarded to tho Government requesting them to give effect to the wishes of the people for the better settlement of the lands ; the chairman to forward them to|the Government." —Ed.]
