CONCERNING NEW ZEALAND LOANS. (BY TELEGRAPH.) Wellington, February 28.
The Colonial Treasurer declares that he knows nothing about the relendiag of the balance of the New Zealand loan, as stated by the London Telegraph ; but considers that, as the balane* of the 5 p«r otnt 10 40 debentures of the 1878 loan are to be taken up to-morrow, it means thai over 2 million* will be afloat for inrastment ; bat he says that that has nothing to do with New Zealand. In October last the Go* renuneat borrowed L 2,700,000 for the purpose of taking up the debentures, and in NoTemberL2BB,ooo. The uoooarerted portion of the 5 million loan of 1879 was paid on the 26th inst Subscribers of the Ootober loan had to pay 88 per oent of the amount, and with this the balance of L 2.307,300 of the 1040 loan wiH be paid to-morrow, the Government having given Ike debenture holdets six •onths' tio Hoe of their intention to do ttt.
