[ jPHE BUCKEYE AHEADFIRST TRIAL oFtHE SEASON. The first trial of the ueauon was held on Monday afternoon on Mr James Smollie's I farm, North Taieri, when tho Lowdown BucKeye wan set to negotiate a heavy crop of green oata sown down with rye. Having yoked up a pair of Mr Smollie'e well-known draughts, Mr Perceval (the expert in charge) started on a preliminary round, followed t>y several well-known Tuieri farmers, each of whom watched its performance narrowly. It* cutting, elevating, and binding was greatly admired, and, although euah a crop was naturally heavy to, cut and diJ(ficult to handle, two horses worked the machine all throuhg without the slightest sign of fatiguo. Every fanner present expressed surpri«ie at the faultless quality qf th,e wors 4o.ne, many of theni saviqg that it effectually <li«. posed of the aMertiou* of some of itH competitors that the Lowdown was at Miladvantage exoepc ou hillside Pound ° Two years ago the hillside "capabilities of the Lowilotfn buckeye were pooh-poohed by j agents who have since been obliged by its performances to concede to all we claim, and to take a very back teat in this department of harvesting. Henc* as a last resort their I assertion that the heavy typical crop* on ?he plains would prove too muoh for it, and hence our selection of \)\* earliest, greenest and most difficult crop wo could find for the purpose of demonstrating tho correotnoas of the judges' decision at Melbourne Kxhibition, Jamestown (8. VALVOLINK ! VALVOLINE ! A GREAT WANT SUPPLIED. THE nature of Vulvoline U such that it imparts to the bearings a Bright Carbonised Appearance, which absolutely stops the wear of the metal by its continued application ; and, as it does not oxidise and dry away like need, lard, iperm, or mixed oils, it is a more Economical Lubricator. No cleaning of Machinery with kerosene or other gum-diMolrcrs is required after Valvpliue has thoroughly removed the oil previously used.
