Mr Mcok agread with all that Mr Burr said as to Mr Sumpter's exceptional fitness, but ho thought the olliou should be a rolling one, ll* therefore proponed Mr Barr as chairman. Mr Burr declined for various reasons ; »nd Mr Bcrrie seconded Mr Ban's motion, tl^t Mr Sumpter should bo elected to the posiliuu ; and the motion wns carried unanimously. Tne Standing Commitk'O v.iv then elected as folltjws : Mesurs Borrie, J. S. Holmes, Allan, Meek, Dunn, Smnptcr, ißarr, and Burbury; three to form u quorum.
