In the Legislative Assembly last night a motion brought forward by Mr William Clarke for the imposition" of duties on imported produce was negatived by 45 votes to 22. The dut ; e8 it was proposed to levy were as follows : Grain and pulse of all kinds, 6d per bushel ; barley and oats, 4d per bushel ; hay and chaff, 6d per cwfc j flour and meal, 20s per cwt j flour and meal, 20s per ton ; bran and pollard, Id per bushel ; potatoes, 10s per ton.
