Nothing is known as to the origin of the Princeß street fire further than that it originated ia the kitchen in Pearce's boardinu-hnme. Two lodgers (Etnywood and Joslin) had a narrow escape, having had to lower themselves from the top storey bedroom windows with sheets tied tngethor. Mrs Pearca and daughter escaped in their ni^ht clothes. Th* lodgers lost everything. Mrs Temnle'a stock and furniture were insured for L3OO in 'he Fire Association office. John Gordon has been killed by a falling tree at Mun<j«w>u Some of the jewellery found in the possession of tha ex-burglar Dunn has been identified as part of the robbery committed in Faoruary lust. The Sam Mendel, from London, is signalled, 327 days onr.
