NAPIER. January 28.

January An inquiry was held to-day into the stranding of tho Silver Oloud. The Court exonerated any one from blame, although thinking it would have been wiser had the vessel been brought in at flood tide. A party of prospectors is going out to examine the western slopes of the Ruahines. Quartz similar to Thames stone has been brought in from time to time by surveyors. In a recent lecture hero Dr Hector also expressed his belief that gold would be found there, The Governor will not arrive until late to-morrow night. There will be no public reception.
