January 27. Intelligence has just been receired here that a bush fire has occurred in the land of Parihaka, which has destroyed a great quantity of food. So excited were the Maoris that it was with difficulty that many of the natives were prevented from rushing into the fl imea and dying with the food which is being destroyed.
