TAURANGA. January 26.

The Te Puke settlers ballotted for the order of selection, Messrs Ryden, Trigg, and Griffiths getting first place. The greatest satisfaction was expressed by all the settlers at the quality of the Te Puke land, and several of them have taken double the quantity originally intended. Mr Rogan, who has increased his area to 500 acres, said he was perfectly delighted with the soil and the beauty of the scenery of Te Puke. The place was all so good that he folt great difficulty in making his selection. He completely exonerated Mr Stewart from all blame for the delay. Honi Tupa, the last remaining of the old generation of chiefs, died last night. He was much honored and respected.
