Tbe Intercolonial Conference met again to day. The report of the select committee which was appointed to enquiie into the powers possessed by the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific was brought up and adopted, with the view to representations being made to the Home Government on the subject. A motion in favor of intercolonial free trade in wines was introduced, but after discussion was rejected. The question of the restriction of Chinese immigration throughout the coloniesjwas again under consideration, and considerable difference of opinion on the Bubject was shown. The Victorian and New South vVales representatives favored the adoption of the draft bill which was before theoonference, but Tasmania, South Austialia, and New Zealand delegates supported the bill which is in operation in Queensland. <
The report of the committee appointed to prepare a memorial to the Imperial Govern meat on the subject of the Western Australian scheme for the introduction of Chinese was brought up and adopted, and it was further decided to submit the same to the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
