OAMARU JOCKEY CLUB RACES. SE COND DAY.

The second day's racing was remarkably successful, and whs a marked improvement on that of the first day. All tho races were honestly and well contested, and in many instances the fields were good. All the arrangements worked smoothly, and taken as a whole yesterday's racing will counterbalance many defects noticeable in the 6rst day. The police prohibited all the usual games where sharpness on the part of the manipulator often takes the place of honesty. This removed a source of annoyance to the occupants of the Grand Stand, whose ears hitherto have been assailed with a variety of yells nnr] cries not always of a choice nature. The attendance was not a large one ; but if the cluh continues to offer fair programmes, and carries them out as successfully as the last one, the public will no doubt renew their faith in the honesty of the turf, and giro their support accordingly. The following are tho results : Handicap Hordlb Rack, of 60 soys. Two miles, ovrr eight flights of hu'dles. Mr J. H. Lunn's bg Robin Hood, 8«t 41b (Clifford) 1 Mr H. On going round the turn Shillelagh went up to Milo, but died away again. Robin Hood then went up with a rush and was soon on even terms with the favorite, and the pace at the some time improved. Round the turn for home Robin Hood was leading, with Milo second, Little John third, and Shillelagh last. Milo was pushed hard, but was unable to pass Robin, and one of the best hurale races yet run on the Oamaru course resulted as above. Little John beat Milo (who was eased off) for second place.
