The Champagno Stakes was won by Grand Prix by half-a-longth, Waterloo second, Sapphirest third. St. Leger — Potrea first, Nollio second, Pontiff third. Doncaater Handicap— 2l started, Queensland winning by three quarters of a longth ; Sunlight, second ; Master Avonol, third. During tho race Auckland came do»vn, bringing with him Tho Dean, Santon, Oraig, Warhawk, and another horao, Santon and Craig being killed, aud three jockeys sovoroly injured. Tri.vl Stakes— Lothian, first ; Clarenza, second ; Memo, third. The Postmaster-General ia still agitating for a change in the departure of tho Brindisi mail from Melbourne from Thursday instead of Sunday. With roforonce to freedom of mombors of Parliament from arrest, it is reported that a bill will be introduced next session with this object. Tho Government aro considering legislation with rogard to pleuro pneumonia. They will probably introduce a measure for compulsory inoculation in a modified form.
