Lord Cranbrook, in the House of Lords, aaid that there was no news confirming the reported rupture of Afghan negotiations. The Queen has arrived in Italy. The House of Lords enquiry into the causes of the depression in trade and agriculture was resultless. It is possible that the enquiry will effect a depreciation in silver necessary hereafter. March 29. The first reinforcements disembarked at Xatal on the sth, and the remainder on the 10th. The relief of Ekowe will soon be attempted. There is no truth in the rumor of a Zulu overture for peace. At Biesto a raid was repulsed. The French Government will undertake the expenses of transporting; exhibits to Sydney for the Exhibition. Mutton tallow, 35a 6d. The Commissioners considered to-day a proposal to invite the Prince of Wales to open the Exhibition.
Calcutta, March 30. The Sttcdemani camp at Baghakana was attacked by 2000 of the enemy, who were ] completely defeated, with a loss of 145. Our loss was small.
