DUNTROON.

A correspondent sends us fuller information of the meeting of householder* held last Monday evening :—: — Our first annual meeting for the election of seven householders to act as a school committee took place on Monday evening last, at Mr Harris* hotel. There was a pretty good attendance, and the Chairman (Mr £. C. Smith) commenced hy reading the notice receired from the EJucation Board, and then proceeded to read the Secretary's report, which, for the short time (only four months) that the retiring committee had b«*en in office, appeared to give the gentlemen present every satisfaction. The report, on the motion of MrT. Woonton, was adopted. The meeting then proceeded to elect a new committee. The following are the names of the gentlemen chosen : —Mr E. C. Smith, Chairman, Messrs Thos. Snow, A. Bell, A. A. Smith, John Collins, Chas. M'Bean, and G. A. Harris. Mr F. J. Sp^nee boim; ngain voted Secretary. The Chairman having given notice of the time of next meeting, 31st January inst., the meeting dispersed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman and Secretary. After the school meeting broke up we had a school library committee meeting, but owing to the lateness of the hoi^r very little was done. Mr F. J. Spence, secretary the school committee, having handed in of the money (L2O) voted by the Waitaki County Council, was invited to act as<t Secretary, Mr R. F. OJbftrt being chosen Chairman and Treasurer. The Secretary was requested to write to the Education Board for the subsidy granted for the use of school libraries, and the meeting then broke up.
