SOIREE AND CONCERT AT O T E P O P O
On Tuesday evening the members of Court Hope A. 0.F., celebrated the Miniversay of the atarting of their lodge with & tea and concert. An excellent spread wm supplied by Bro. Davidson, of Oamaru, and presided over by Misses Qilliee, Diehl, Henderson (2), M'Millan, and Ure. When ample justice had been dams to the good things provided, the tablev* <fee, were cleared out, and the hall arranged for the concort, at which Mr A, Paterson, P.0.R., was chairman. The first part of the programme wat reading the financial statement, which showed the lodge to be in a very healthy condition ; Mr Ovenden, the Secretary, also gave a brief rtmmt, of the objects and advantages to be derived by thote connected with Forestry. Mr Fielding opened the concort with the song " Merrily goea the mill," and was succeeded by Mr Hamilton, with " Scotland for ever," and in response to an encore, gave " Jones' Musical Party," MrSinclair came next, with the "Dickey," and succeeded in gaining a rapturoui encore, for which he gave " The Married Man." Mr Ooolen then sung the " Umbrella Courtship," and being encored gay« " Susan's Sunday out." The next was. * violin solo by Mr Young. The duet, " Come under my plaidie" was then given by Miss Ure and Mr Sinolair, both o£ whom sung and acted well, and for an encore gavo the "Gipsy Countess." Mr Hamilton followed with the " Low-backed Car," and being encored gave a humorous aeng entitled " Awfully WiUM' " Dublin Bay ' was next givon, by Mr R. Ure, who was followed by Miss Ure singing "Lovely Mona," in very good stylo. Mr Kobertson then sung "My heart* first love," and in response to a most enthusiastio encore, gave the " Scotchman born." Mr Robertson seemed to please the audienos remarkably well, for he was again encored, which was acknowledged by a recitation, "Shamus O'Brien." This finished the pi'ogrammo, and votes of thanks wore carried, to the ladies for presiding at the tables, to the singers, and to the Chairman. The hall was then cleared for a danoe, which was kept up till about 3 o'clock.
