The City o! New York has arrived with tlio English mail via San Franciso. She sails south with the mail on Sunday morning. The only other candidato is Farnall. It is thought probable that the latter will withdraw, imd leavo the election imoontested. The ship Babington has been placod in quarantine. Ther* is only one case of scarlet fever and one of rheumatic fever on board now. The voyage from London was protraotod by putting into Algoa Bay, the vessel being short of water.
