AUCKLAND. April 17.
A thousand people attended the races to-day, including the Governor and suite. The following are the results: — Trial Stakes ; 1| miles ; weight for age. Isaac Walton. 3 yrs, 1 ; May Morn, 4 yrs, 2 ; Polly Plum, aged ; 3. Seven started ; May Morn led to within 50 yds of the chain, where Isaac was let out and won easily. Tradesmen's Plate was won hy Perfume ; Polly Plum 2nd, and La Belle 3rd. Perfume won easily. Hurdle Race ; 2 miles. Perfume 1st, Mystery 2nd, and Gladstone 3rd. Deception and Medea also started. Perfume took kindly to the timber, and scored a clever win. Easter Handicap 5 mile and a half. Isaac Walton 1st, Bedouin 2nd, May Morn 3rd. Eclipse, Belle, and Deception also started. A good race. Won by half a length. Mr Brown, Clerk of the Course, was thrown from his horse, and hid a narrow escape. Arrived — H.M. S. Barracouta from Fiji.
