D Canning, Esq., to offer for public sale by auction, at bis Homestead, Oakbourne, Hawke's Bay, tbe undernoted PURE-BRED & STORE STOCK, On Thursday, January 27, at Noon. COTSWOLD RAMS. 10 PURE PEDIGREE COTSWOLD RAMS, aged 200 Two-tooth Cotswoia Rami 200 Ram Hoggets These Sheep are now bo well known over this Colony that they require little comment. They are progeny of the celebrated Gawnes, Lanes, Fletchers, and Brown, of Markham, all long-established pure Cotswold flocks. Mr Canning has bestowed his usual discrimination And care in selecting, not only of his imports, but in severely culling the young stock. The value of the Cotswold for crossing with, and as the best sheep to nick with the Merino, is, of course, beyond question, no other cross giving more profit in wool or better constitution. After the Rams, the following EWES will be sold : — 1000 f-bred Cotswold Ewes, 8-tooth. 100 i-bred Cotswold Ewes, 8-tooth, all sound and in good condition. HORSE STOCK. DUGDALE, Stallion, pure Clydesdale, imported (for pedigree, see advertisement in newspapers) ; and 15 DRAUGHT MARES, stinted to Dugdale. These valuable Mares were selected for Mr Canning by Mr Samuel' Macgregor, of Melbo urne, who spared neither time nor expense in procuring a fit lot, and whose produce would do justice to the most promising Biro in the colony. Draught Colts and Fillies by Little John Pony Mares and produce ; and several Hacks of first-rate quality. CATTLE. Tho pure Short-horn Bull, the MARQUIS OF LORNE, rich roan, two year old, purchased at Mr Bell's sale of Waimea Herd) October, 1874. (See Herd Book.) The pure Short-horn Heifer WAIMEA 2nd, roan, was also selected at Mr Bell's sale. Waimea 2nd has been served by Hon. J. DOrmond's imported bull Cambridge Duke service money £25;. (For pedigree, see Herd Book.) MARCHIONESS, 5 years old, by Knight of the Crescent, out of Milkmaid, in calf to Tentagel. (See Hord Book.) PRINCESS, 4 year old, by Knight of the Crescent, out of Milkmaid, in calf to Ten tagel. (See Herd Book.) Marchioness and Princess were purchased at the sale of the late Laurie Daniel's stock, Wanganui, October, 1874. Also, 120 Head or thereby Cows, Heifers, and Steers, all well bred, descended from Crusader, Knight of the Bath, and Knight Templar. OAMAKTJ CORPORATION GAS SUPPLY. TNTENDING Gas Consumers, de- -"- sirous of baring their Premises Lit upon the opening night (1 8th March), are requested to send in to the Town Clerk an application for Service Pipes, stating the number of lights intended to be used, and the kind (wet or dry) of Meter they prefer. Service Pipes, not exceeding 20 feet in length from the Maim, will be put in without charge ; those exceeding this length will be charged at cost price for the excess — viz., 7d per foot for i-inch, 9d for i-inch, Is for 1-inch, and Is 4d for 1^incb. — these prices covering all charges. Consumers are requested to employ none but competent tradesmen to fit up their premises, otherwise they will incur considerable risk, and subject themselves to future annoy ance and disappointment.
