The ground was in bad order, and the want of- punctuality of some of the members of the team was much to be regretted. - The H to Z having, as -Ml be seen, scored 63 as against their opponents' 27, the latter went in again, following their innings. They then run up 91, and H to Zhad to go in again, and towards the dose of the -match it became somewhat exciting, as the time for drawing the stumps was rapidlr approaching. However, H to Z were dispoiod of by A to G-, with half a minute to spare, A to G- scoring a victory by 23 runs. In th« first innings of A to 6 Mr Sumpter's slows were very effective, three wickets falling to hi* first over. In the second innings, however, the bats were more on their guard, and scored freely. Mr Maude and Mr Cuff, on opposite sides, bowled well on the wicket, but owing to the lively nature of the ground, many of the balls rose over the bails. The fielding generally exhibited borne slight improvement, and with steady practice the Ostnarn Club should be able to -give a good account of themselves in succeeding matches. We un» derstand that a match with the D.O.O is oo the tapU, and we hope to tee more interest in future taken by the public in this noble game. ______________
