_ Mr Shtumski reports that ha sold by auction, on October 31, a three-quarter acre allotment, with two-roomed stone cottage, in the town of Oamaru, for the sum of L70. At his monthly sale of stock at the EaJcanni on the 4th, cattle fetched fair prices, but there seemed to be a fall in value since his last sale. There was no demand for horse* On the 6th, he sold the Bnshv Creelc Water-race, at the Mfierewhetma Gold fields — one of the best in the district — which eost about L3000, but the proprietors were unable to carry it on any further for wnnt of means. It was knocked down to Mr William "Bee for Tj21 <). On the 8th he sold the Oamaru Surf "Boat Company's plant to Mr G-rave, for L100. The same gentleman alsp,purcha8ed the boatmen's hut, for L10. Tie" also sold immediately after, the spars of the wreck of the Premier for L10. *

Mr John Reid, Dunedin, under date November 6, reports t — I held a sale by public auction, through mv auctioneers, Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn, and Co., of sheepskins, ttooI, and tnllow, on Saturday last. 1500 skins sold at 2s 6d to 4s fid rach, for merino, and 4s to 6* 2d each for half-bred. Tallow (mixed), brought from L26 to L28 per ton. Private sa^* of wool in grease are reported. Ov>e clip of 100 boles, light greasy, has been sold at Is per lb. ; this should be a sufficient inducement to offer ttooI in this market. It is satisfactory to know that buyers are prepared to give full rates, and many are anxious to operate.
