P O E T'S CORNER. LOVE'S WISH.

With trembling hope I think of her, The maid with gold§n hair ; Her laughing eyes blue as the sides And bright as jewels rare. O long and happy be her days, May joy her steps attend, And ne'er may giief or carting core Her gentle bosom rend. Her life be like a pleasant dream, That makes one smile in sleep, Or like somo gently-rippling stream, Soft flowing toward the deep. And when old age steals slowly on, May life's last hours be bright, And may tho threshold of her days Be lit with hcaTenly light. And when at last Death strikes his dart, Her end be peace and bliss, And heaven open to receive A sweet saint ta'en from this. W.
