DUNEDIN".— The "Daily Times" of yesterday reports :— Although no very brisk demand has been apparent, and operations of magnitude in the import market have been rare, still a steadier trade has been doing, and general business is lather mending than otheiwiso. A. lather better business can be noted in corn*acks, parcels of which have been moved at 13s 4Jd to 13s 6d ; at these rates the market is firm. Woolpacks have not been asked for. AH kinds of colonial piovisions are plentiful. Shipments of Akaroa cheese have been unsuccessfully offered at 5<id and under, aud Northern butter is scaicely to be placed at present. Good parcels of baeon aud hams, both English and colonial, are, however, readily saleable. In the produce market there has during the past few days been no alteration ; the demand for breadatuffs and grain keeps very quiet, and will probably do so until after harvest. There has been a little disposition to look for good parcels of oats at last week's rates ; but holder? looking for a shade of improvement, littlejhai been done; value for good lots of seed, 2s lOd Wheats remain at 4s 6d to 4s 9d, light enquiry ; and fine flour, for the best town biands, is quoted at L13 ; though there are sellers of sound at below this figure. In the auction marts nothing of particular moment has gone forward.
