SAD CASE OF INFANTICIDE.

A case which has excited a painful degree of interest has just occurred in the county of Tyrone. A report having been oiroal&ted in the Tillage of Augher that there had been foul work in reference to an infant, the constabulary wore on the alert, and have a, young girJ, named Malcolm, the alleged mother, together with her aunt, and a young man named Glass, the putative father of the child. The younger female prisoner does not appear to be sixteen years old ; she ia of interesting appearance, and evidently felt her position very keenly. The prisoners were brought before the magistrates, when Sub-inspector Hannell proved that, after being duly cautioned, the girl admitted that sho was the mother of the child, and stated that it had died three days after its birth ; that, being anxious to conceal all evidence ef her shame, she put its dead body on a fire, where it charred dnring- the night ; »nd that having mixed the xemains with the ashes of the fire, she deposited them in the ashpit. Dr. Scraggn proved that the girl had recently been delivered of a child, and that the ashes which he examined contained animal remains in * charred condition. The magistrates remanded the prisoners.
