Notwithstanding a vigourous search along the coast •ince last Thursday evening, the body of the unfortunate man Hngan, who was drowned in the Bay that day, hat Dot yet been recovered. The Star of Tasmania is expected from Port Chalmers tomorrow (Wednesday), The ».«. Wainui arrived in port on Sunday night at 12 o'clock, long overdue, having experienced strong south-easterly wind* from Tiinaru. After discharging flour, &c. whipped at Akaroa, she left for Dunedin. She brings no later Canterbury news than those to hand. Fiom our Tiinaru Contemporary, ire are sorry to learn that the schooner Prince.Consort, 35 tona, Ritchie, master, waa totally wrecked |in the Roadstead there on Thursday last, during a severe gale from tho north-east. It appears that she was ballasted with about 16 tonsj of loose shingle, which soon caused a " list" to one side, and a heavy broadside sea eventually put her hopelessly ■on her beam ends. Three men were on board, and two of them, with the efficient aid rendered by the Alexandra life-boat, -were fortunately rescued. Mr Bertram, of H.M. Customs, gallantly rescued the third mnn, who was holding on to a spar amid the kelp. The Prince Consort soon afterwards drifted on to the rocks and became a complete wreck. She was insured in the New Zealand Insurance Office.
