President Johnson has restored Texas to th» Union, and expressed his determination to maintain Ins previous policy. The stock of cotton in Liverpool on 31st August amounted to 880,000 bales. Bank of England returns for week ending 6th of September show the following results, as compared with tho previous account : — Increase in reserve of notes, L43.000; increase of bullion, L363,000; decrease in bilk discounted, L" 12,000.
