(To the Editor of the Oasiaru Times ) Sir,— May I suggest that in publishing our Civil Court business you would give the Christian name of parties, as on teveral occasions I have got the credit of being the defaulter, giving myself and friends annoyance. Giving this a place in your first issue, w ill oblige Yours, &c, Robert Mackay. "Wansbeck-street, July 17th, 1866. [Sometimes we do not procure Christian names, but we will publish them when ascertainable. As Mr Mackay, we understand, refers to a civil case — Waddell v. M'Kay— mentioned in our issue of the 12th instant, we may state, for the information of himself and friends, that the defendant hailed fiom Hampden, and not Oamaru.— Ed. O. T.]
(To the Editor of the Oamatiu Times.) Dear Sin, — Can you kindly inform me whether Messrs Hoyt's Agent here is at all justified in keeping the Mails in the public bar of a hotel long after their arrival by the coach. He (the Agent) says he is, and that he can keep them till 8 p.m. If so, I beg to ask if if is not a very great injustice to the public, who have such a very limited time to reply to their letters under the present postal arrangements. It is also unjust to the Postmaster, making his hours much longer than they need be. The coach arrives seldom later than 6 p.m., and to suit the Agent's convenience he does not deliver the Mails at the Post-office till 7 p.m. If ours, &c, Enquirer. [We are not aware of the terms of the contract. — Ed. O.T.]
