The following communication has been placed in our hands for publication : — Provincial Secretary'! Office, Dunedin, 18th July, 1866.

Gentlemen, — I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 11th July, relative to the road between Longslip aud the Lindis Gorge, and to acquaint you that the subject will receive the immediate attention of the Government.
