NELSON ANNUAL RACE MEETING. (From the "Nelson Evening Mail," of 20th March.)
Tho races, which have lately excited so much interest, commenced this morning. The clay was all that could be desired, and the road to tho course at Stoke was early lined with horsemen and pedestrians, as well aa with vehicles of all kinds, conveying ea?er holiday folks to the ground. We noticed there nearly all the public officers and business men of Nelson, proving that the occasion for a holiday had been generally taken advantngo of, a fact which might be seen also by the deserted appearance of tho town all day.
