PLOUGHING MATCH AT HAMPDEN.
The following is a detailed report of the above event, to which we made brief reference in our last week's ivmc: — The fiist Ploughing Match undei the auspices of the Hampden Farmers' Society, took place on the 4th inst., i on Mr Glceson's farm. The dar -was »11 that could bo desired, and on the field was a goodly number of spectators fro'ii the »urrounding districts. The allotments were about one-third of an ncre, and the time allowed 4h hours. At a, given signal, fourteen ploughs .staitod, each competitor seemingly determined to do hii beit. The Judges— Messrs Campbell, Totara. ; Moiton, Otepopo ; anil Home, Moeiaki, having carefully and minutely inspected the woik, a winded (he prizes as follows :—
