TOWN BOARD MEETING.
A meeting of tho Town Boaid was held on Monday evening last, in the Court House, when the following; members wore present, viz. :— Messrs S. Gibhs, J. Waddell, G. R. Taylor, and C. Kleeber. Mr Gibbs in the chair. The Hi lutes of previous meeting wore read and confirmed. The Clerk then read tho correspondence between the Board and the Provincial Secretary on several subjects, the lesults of which shortly are as follow : — The Govprnment are not yet in a position to hand over the Cm»wu Giants for the Oaniaru Municipal Reserves, and expect a still further delay "Nothing can theiefore he done by the Board at present, nor, indeed, until an ordinance can be passed by the Piovincial Council, providing for thfir management. A Bill will ho intioluced by the Government next Pession, making (he reserves, as required by th« Waste Luid Regulations; but it is piohable that the one for their management cannot be pnssed until the ""'pssiwi following, a t''f)ii?h this will be obviated, if possible." i be Govern nenfc letuin a similar reply to the above, rps.ir r i g the sections reserved for an Hospital, in Puni.nn The Government return a similar reply to the above w th i<-f rence 'othe Oaniaru Public Gulden Ki serves, PuMiu lv.pl.made, Lo. It was thpn moved by Mr Gibbs, and seconded by Mr Waddell, "that the m-jeting do ailjourn, in consequence of ihe d ath of Dr. Williams, a nvmher of the Bo ird, and resolve tint a letter of condolence be sent to Mis Willi.ims and family in their bereavement." This win carried unanimously, and the proc ediujrs terminated.
