The N.Z.S.N., Company's s.s. "Wellington, Captain H. B. Francis, arrived in this harbor yesterday evening at 5 p.m., after a very boisterous passage. She left Lyttelton ou the 7th at 12 15. p.m. and encountered strong JST.S. winds with a heavy sea. The following morning at 3.30. a.m. when abreast of the Kai Kora Peninsula, the wind changed to N.W. blowing a gale, and causing the sea to rise very much ; about the same time it was found she had thrown one of the blades off her fan, thus leaving her about one. Finding the vessel in her disabled state could not make headway against the gale, the fore and aft canvas was set and the vessel put on a wind. About noon yesterday she fetched Cape Palliser, the wind now moderate, and getting into smoother water, crossed Palliser Bay and steamed slowly into harbor. In consequence of the accident which happened to the propeller of the s.s. Wellington on her trip from Canterbury to this port, it has been deemed advisable to send her to Nelson for the purpose of undergoing the necessary rppairs. She will accordingly leave at two o'clock to-day on her ordinary trip to the North, but will remain at Nelson, the s.s. Ahuriri there takinc up the route. The latter vessel will leave this port on Saturday morning.— Now Zealand Advertiser, Fphraary Q __ - -- The ship Chile, the second wool ship of the season, was towed nut to a good offing at an early hour on Saturday morning. Her cargo of wool is of about the same value as that of last year, and she has a niunber of passengers in both cabins, but she carries with her only a few ounces of gold, of which she, last year, had a considerable quantity.
