Oamaru Times Office, Wednesday Evening.

Saxby'a weather predictions having unfortunately turned out correct, we have had a great deal of rain this week, which, although it may possibly do no harm to agriculture, is not very promotive of commerce. In the end of last and beginning of the present week a large quantity of wool arrived in time for shipment, and were the weather favorable, the vessels at present here which are taking in cargo would speedily be filled. "We have to report in regard to loading, that the Star of Tasmania has now received about 1800 bales, and is nearly full. She will be ready for sea in a few days should the weather continue favorable, and will be the first wool ship of the season to leave the Province this year. The Malay has stowed about 700 bales. The Gazehound is discharging a large miscellaneous cargo in good order, consigned to Messrs. Tiaill, Roxby and Co. The steamer Geelong returned here on the 13th inst., and took off 150 more bales for the Celceno at Port Chalmers. The Matilda Hayes has brought a cargo of coals from Shag Point, and left with a cargo of lime for Dunedin. The Jona also carries a cargo of lime for Dunodin. The Uhdinn has arrived from VVaikava with 17,000 feet of timber, and is still in port waiting orders. Our busy season is at its height, and we may confidently expect, judging from present appearances, that Oamaru this year will ship more than half of the wool produce of the Province.
