SALE OF STOCK.
On Friday, the sale of stock took place as advertised. Some -very fine animals were sold, which, will tend to improve the breed in this part of .the .colony. Three merino rams of Mr Rich's brought £400. We observe that Mr Hunter's Leicester ram, which we noticed last week, was put up for sale, but reserved at £40. This ram was generally admired and highly commended by the Judges.
Notice has been given to all persons wishing to apply for agricultural leases between Frankton, Arrow Town, and Arthur's Point, that the Government do not deem it advisable to grant any in that district, as it is intended to offer the land for sale at an early period. We understand that-a somewhat sweeping reduction in the numbers of the Provincial Government staff has taken place. Several offices are understood to have been altogether abolished,' and the number of employee in other departments largely reduced.
