Seventh Day Adventists

This year Seventh Day Adventists will hold their annual camp meeting at Ardmore, near Papakura, where a suitable site has been purchased. Next week work is to commence on th e erection of tents, marquees and other amenities, including a number of permanent buildings, so that all will be in readiness for the opening on January 3rd, 1951. The camp will close on January 14th. Six big marquees are to be erected, the largest measuring approximately 135’ x 95’. In these, different services will be held for the various age groups that will be catered for, one for children up to five years of age, one for those from six to ten years old, a third for the ten to fifteen year-old

group, and one for th e Young People 15 years and over. The main meetings will be held in the big marquee. There will be 200 14’ x 14’ tents, suitably grouped and loaded to accommodate the campers. Water will be laid on and each tent will be provided with electric light. One of the permanent buildings will be a well equipped kitchen where the cooking will be done for the whole camp. The site is well laid out and provides a large car parking area, a store and a bookstall where relevant literature will be on sale. The planning shows a combination of convenience and comfort without detracting from the natural beauty of the property. Meetings will be held daily by pastors from all over the Dominion, and a number from overseas, and some interesting and stirring addresses are anticipated. This meeting will be followed by a Junior Camp to be held on the same ground from January 16th to 23rd for the young folk between ten and fifteen years old. Their programme is to include progressive class work which is sure to prove popular. Application forms for accommodation at both camps are already in strong demand, and the prospects so far, indicate a large attendance and a successful function.
