R.S.A. EXECUTIVE
GOLD STAR RECIPIENT At the last meeting of the Executive of the Mangonui County R.S.A. the president (Mr. J. Gill) announced that the gold star of honour and certificate of merit had been awarded to Mr. J. W. Dawson, senior vice-presi-dent and past president of the Mangonui Association. In making the announcement, Mr. Gill said that this was a signal honour to the association, and the county R.S.A. must feel proud that Mr. Dawson’s record of service had brought this organisation so prominently before Dominion headquarters. Presentation would be made at the quarterly meeting to be held on Wednesday, December 15, and Mr. Court Astley, Northern District vice-presi-dent, would, in all probability, be here to do the honours. A Lands Committee was set up to deal with the ever-present problem of land acquisition for ex-servicemen. Those elected to this body were Messrs J. W. Dawson, J. Morrison, E. Kendrick and L. Sloane. It was also decided immediately to instal an amplifier system in the Assembly Hall.
