FAIRBURNS W.I. The July meeting of the Fairburns Women’s Institute was held recently in the hall when Mrs. Hoskin presided over a good attendance of members and welcomed a new member. The main business was in connection with the conference in August. The President’s letter in “Home and Country” was read by Mrs. Wallace. Mrs. Trigg and Mrs. W. Fisher received presents for their birthdays, and Mrs. Atkin for her birthday which was in June. The roll call was “a spring-cleaning hint.” A letter is to be sent to the Institute link,*lngatestone, in England, in time for their birthday in August, and all members are to sign it. Winners of competitions were Miss Trott, Mrs. L. Foster and Mrs. W. Fisher. The month’s competitions were for two best blooms and three ginger-nuts or ginger biscuits. The hostesses, Mrs. Hoskin and Mrs. Metcalfe, served afternoon tea and this concluded the meeting.
