Mr. Henry Cochrane is a patient in the Kaitaia Hospital. Mr. Walter Panther who has been visiting a specialist in Auckland, returned on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Warm have returned to Auckland after havingvisited friends and relatives in this district.
Mrs. T. N. Kitchen and son Gary leave on Sunday to spend a week with Mrs. Kitchen’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Wrathall of Backriver. Commemoration Service in Soldiers’ Memorial Hall The commemoration service held in the Victoria Valley Memorial hall on Sunday evening was largely attended. The congregation took wreaths to be placed on soldiers’ graves in the Victoria Valley cemetery. The preacher, Rev. J. Graham, delivered a most impressive address ; this sevice was in the form of an A.nzac Service, delayed to fit in with the minister’s usual Sunday service at the Valley. Victoria Valley people decided that on future Anzac Days, a service will if possible, be held in the Memorial Hall on that day. Golf Club Re-formed At a meeting of the Victoria Valley Golf Club last week, it was decided to re-form the Club. Players are very keen to get the game going and at the weekend an enthusiastic working bee prepared and enlarged the geens. The fairways will be mowed in time to open abouc die 23rd May. It was intended that the opening would take place on the 16th but as this date clashes with Oruru Club’s opening, the later date was decided on. Already over twenty men and ten lady members intend joining, so a good season’s sport should be assured.
