In Matrimony
PHILLIPS O’CONNELL On Saturday last at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kaitaia, Cyril Pierre (third son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Philiips of Wellington) an.l Margaret Mary (eldest daughter of Mr. and the late Mrs. O’Connell of Temuka, Couth Cantcilu.y) were joined in holy matrimony Uy the Rev. Father N. W. Berridge. Miss Barbara Davies presided at the organ ’The bride, who*entered the church escorted by her brother, Mr. S. O’Connell, was charmingly gowned in seif-striped white satin, short sleeved with a lace yokej She woke elbowlength white gloves and carried c, bouquet of cream loses ; her veil was of full length, and her headdress matched her bouquet. Bridesmaid was Miss Stella Harwood, who wore deep coral selfstriped nylon over taffeta ; her frock was also short-sleeved, add her hale and bouquet were of matching' roses. Mr. I’aui Phillip.;, brother of the bridegroom, was bestman. Nuptial mass was celebrated ai’tei the ceremony. • About 50 guests were received at the Parish Hall later by Mrs. Clifford Toon of Auckland (sister of the bride) and Mrs. R. 1. McDonald oi Kaitaia. Mrs. To<Sn wore brown wool crepe with matching accessories, and a shoulder sprajf of autumn-tinted flowers. Her breyvn toque was veiltrimmed. Mrs, McDonald favourer navy, and her accessories and hat were of navy, and white. Toastmaster at the reception was Mr. Pat Sullivan of Wellington, a friend of the bridegroom. The bride’s family was represented by her brother and two sisters, and the bridegroom’s by his father and elder brother. The Rev. Father Berridge was also in attendance, representing another brother of tile bridegroom with whom he had trained for priesthood and who had beffn killed in action overseas. .1 A beautifully llecorated two-tier cake was cut, raid the bride and groom toasted enthusiastically by the gay company. Th| toast list, though short, gave severs! speakers the opportunity of congratulating the happy couple upon the inumber of friends they had made in <6heir comparatively short stay in tbf district, and .of wishing them every future success and continued prosperity. Before their fijjal departure, the newly-weds returned to the hall to receive the further good wishes of their assembled friends and to express their thanks for the many gifts, some of which' were, displayed. Mrs. Phillips wore a most becoming suit of navy wool georgette over a cream tie-neck blouse. Her accessories and tiny off-the-face hat were oi navy and white, the latter trimmer with blue flowers.
