Mangonui Horticultural Society’s Spring Show

The Mangonui Horicultural Society held its Spring Show on Saturday last in Gallie’s Hall. The weather was at its best, and there were visitors from the outlying districts. the feature or tire flower section was a display of gladioli by Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Moore of Oruru. In addition to those entered for competition they had a number of Varieties on exhibit, and the beautiful display was very favourably commented on. Mr. and Mrs. Moore are specialists at gladioli growing, and had over forty varieties on exhibition. There were many entries of otherflowers, and the display was a commendable one. Roses were not as numerous as last year, bat those entered were very good. The decorative section,'both junior and senior, produced some beautiful specimens of the decorative craft. The vegetable section brought in good entries, and many splendid types of the usual varieties were exhibited, and it took keen and careful judging in many cases before a decision could be arrived at. The preparation of this section of exhibits shows an improvement each succeeding Show. Mr. I. Hall, President, at the close of the Show thanked all those who had worked to make it a success, and the exhibitors who so enthusiastically grew and produced the splendid specimens. A large number of the exhibits were donated to the Show Committee and were sold for its benefit at the close of the proceedings. The fancy work . section was not represented by as numerous exhibits as last year, but the work was of a high order. The following are the results of the judging : Fancy Work Knitted Sox Mrs. R.
