PICNIC Although /((he, attendance of adults was smaller than usual, there was a large gathering of chidren at the annual Armistice Picnic held in Mrs. Coulter’s paddock on Tuesday. The weather \Vas threatening in the early morning, biK the day turned out fine and assisted considerably to make the. function so successful. Arrangements fop the day were in the hands of Mr. G. MacPherson ! (chairman), Mr. B. Foster (secretary) and an energetic Committee. A good supply of free ice cream proved very popular with young and old. At 12 o’clock the customary silence in memory of the fallen was observed with the flag at half-mast. The guest speaker for the day was Mr. E. G. MacPherson of Honeymoon Valley, whose splendid address centred very largely round the value of home life in the building of a nation. Lunch was served at the conclusion of the address, and afternoon tea at the close of the afternoon’s sports programme. Details of the events : Boys 5-6.—C. Foster 1, R- Dennison 2, P. Durbin 3.
