Annual Meeting of Valley Cricket Club
The annual meeting of the Victoria Valley Cricket Club was held in the Memorial Hall on Monday evening last with a good attendance of players and supporters. The President of the Club, Mr. J, M. Dawson, was in the chair and the keynote of the meeting was one of keenness and enthusiasm. The financial statement revealed that although heavy expenditure had been necessary last season the Club’s finances were in a healthy state. The President and Club Captain in their reports both recommended that although the team was not a strong one, a very successful and enjoyable season had been experienced. A new concrete wicket was* laid down on Mr. Maurice Panther’s property and the Club placed on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Messrs. Eddie and Ross White in directing the contraction of this excellent wicket. Reference was again made to the wonderful assistance always rendered by the Maurice Panther family and in appreciation Mr. Panther was made a life member of the Club. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : President Mr. J. M. Dawson ; Vice-Presidents —Messrs. Murphy, J. W. Hoskin, E. White, R. Beazley Snr. end T. J. Coulter ; Secretary and Treaurer-—Mr. Clyde Beazley ; Captain—Mr. Les Foster ; Delegates to Mangonui Cricket Association—Messrs. J. M. Dawson and F. Panther ; Management Committee - Captain, Secretary and Messrs. F. Panther, G. Dawson and R. Coulter ; Selection Committee—Captain, C. Hoskin and G. Dawson. It is hoped to arrange practices prior to the start of the competition matches.
