REP TEAMS The following are the Mangonui representative basketball teams vhich will travel to Whangarei on Friday to compete in Saturday’s tournament All players are requested to be at the Kaitaia P.O. at 11.46 a.m. on Friday to board the transport which will leave at 12 noon : A team—A. Williams, S. Popata, F. Henderson, L. Yates, A. Thomas, P. Donaldson, F. Divich. CATHOLIC DANCE Saturday night’s Catholic dance, : held in the Kaitaia A. and P. Hall, ‘ was one of the brightest and most successful of the current season. A large crowd packed the floor from the opening bars of the fii’st waltz until dancing ceased at midnight with the final number of a varied and exl cellent programme in the hands of Mr. T. Ryan, m.c. ! Dance accompaniment was provid- . ed by the ever-populal Versatile Or- . chestra and extras were played by ’ Miss Queenie Enwright. A light supj per was served by the ladies of fee , Catholic Church. Highlight of the evening’s entertainment was a demonstration of the Hula dance by J Miss Pauline Scott, a visitor to Kai- ’ taia from Rarotonga. Miss Scott, appropriately costumed, gave a polished ’ performance of this beautifully ex- ’ .pressive number, redolent of the exotic South Sea Islands. . Competition prizes, boxes of chocolates, were won by Miss Te Haara r and Miss Betty Sefton while further 1 prizes were awarded to the winners i of two novelty dance numbers, a i monte carlo waltz and a monte carlo S’ -foxtrot —Miss G. Brljevich and Mr. 1 R. Fisher and Miss N. Morrison and 1 Mr. L. Parker.
