The County Ambulance

Efforts are now being made to raise funds for the purchase of an ambulance for the County. The vehicle has been ordered and delivery will be made within the next few i months. Subscription lists are now out and in circulation. Last Tuesday evening Messrs. J. Knox and V. Kingdon, members of the Mangonui Ambulance Association, visited Herekino where he outlined the aims .and objects of their Association. They received an enthusiastic hearing. Chairman of the meeting was Mr. W. Hales, the riding member on the County Council. Several donations are already in hand. £I7OO will purchase the vehicle and cover the first year’s running expenses. This has been allocated as follows : £l5O to each of the eight ridings, £250 by the Kaitaia Borough and £250 by the Maori race. Controlling the efforts in the ridings are the riding members on the County Council.
