Despite the unseasonable weather more than 60 bowlers were present last Saturday to take pari in the Kaitaia Bowling Club's weekly draw. Berghan defeated Freeman (si, Kunicich, McDonald, Smythe, 17-IS. Lewis (s), Surman, Steen, A. 11. Puckey defeated Bidmead (s), Dykes, Pribecivich, A. W. Masters, 23-8. C. Werner (s), Mclntosh, Boreham, F. Puckey defeated Dyer (s), Maria, Simms. Cave, 17-11. J. E. Wilkinson (s), Foster, Rae, Morrison defeated J. T. B. Taaffe (si, Hales, Carr, N. Masters, 17-15. Michie(s), Clark, Steed, Long, defeated H. Wilkinson (s), Archibald, Weber, R. Crene, 21-12. Parker (s), Fittall, Braithwaite, H. G. Taylor defeated Saunders (s), Kingdon, Murray, A. Holder, 19-15. Taaffe Shield The mayor’s team withstood a strong challenge from R. Michie (s), W. Dyer, E. Clark and J. Crosby, to retain the coveted trophy that is so aptly named, by 26 points to 19. M. Hammond substituted for R. Northwood as lead for Taaffe, and with the No. 3 (Cowie) in excellent form, the team was always on top.
